// Since the red retro dress, I haven't done so much sewing. (one thing, to be precise, more about it below) I'm going to show you some of the new treasuries in my little "library". Two of them I got in the book shop of the wonderfull V&A museum in London. It would have been a lot more books, if there wouldn't have been a weight limit on the airport...The other books came from the amazing exhibition, which is taking place in the German Historical Museum until June.
Also schauen wir uns die Bücher doch mal an:
// So lets take a look at the books:
Der Untertitel des Buches lautet "from siren suits to the New Look".

In the "Forties Fashion" the influence of the great historic events at this time. The subtitle of this book says "from siren suits to the New Look". It shows us the respective fashion changing under the the war, for example. All together with wonderfull photographs from the periods clothing.
// "Vintage Lingerie" is one of my favorites. It is about historic under garments. You also have patterns! It contains under garments from 1850 to 1970. Two projects are full with instructions and sewing techniques. Totally recommended!

// I found the next book in the museums book shop in Berlin, it was very low priced but really thick. It mostly has photographs, I think its one of these books, which you can look into and just let yourself coasting through the pages.
// The last one is the wonderfull designed catalogue of the exhibition mentioned above. It contains wonderfull pictures of the garments on display. Also it has descriptions of texture, shape and decoration of the european fashions. I can highly recommend the exhibition itself!!
Work in process - Jenny pencil skirt
// At the moment I work on a pencil skirt made from the Jenny pattern by burdastyle.com.
I'm already finished, I only have to sew the lining and for I like to have the version with suspenders, I have to sew them as well.
Und sonst? // Anything else?
// I signed up for a pattern construction course, this is the area of expertise which I really want to know more about. It starts in about four weeks. Where? In the Sewing Institute here in Berlin (http://www.linkle.de/). I'm very excited about it and I will post my experiences here.
Oder komplett learning by doing?
Did you have a sewing course as well? Or was it all learning by doing? I really like to hear something about your "sewing career :)
