I live in Berlin, a city which has a lot to offer. That's why I love to play tourist from time to time and discover hidden places. A few weeks ago, we made a walk through Köpenick, which is a disctrict in southern Berlin. This area has a lot of water, like the famous lake called "Müggelsee". So you see a lots of boats here, which make you fell like you're in holiday somewhere in Italy sometimes. It also has a lot of beautiful historic buildings and a palace. Fall gave us an amazing coloful autumn day, which turned the palace grounds into an almost mystical place.
There is one person, who made Köpenick very famous and this is the "Hauptmann von Köpenick" (captain of Köpenick). In 1906 he dressed himself up as an captain, although he was a shoemaker. He managed to get into the city hall, with some soldiers who believed that he was a real captain, and robbed the city treasures. This made him famous here in Germany and there is a statue of him in front of the city hall.
In the pictures you can spot one of my hat designs, which are available through etsy (or dawanda). It is made from the same fabric as my Gertie coat. The suitcase was a flea market find of my boyfriend, who also took all of these great photos.

Today I'm gonna start a new category on this blog and I call it "places to go and sew". Its gonna be a kind of "outdoor" category, where I will introduce fabric shops and other sewing related places. And because I live in Berlin, the first location is a nice fabric shop I recently discovered.
It is called "Nähkontor" and it's located in Prenzlauer Berg. When I first came in there, I was pleased by the nice 1950s interior. They did a great job with that, its like you go shopping through a time machine. You can get everything the sewing heart desires (fabric, notions etc.), but they also offer sewing classes and services like self-fabric covered buttons and belts. I didn't know that this services is offered by here in Berlin.
If you like sewing (I guess so) and if you're in Berlin and maybe you have a faible for vintage interior and notions (I obviously have.), that's your place.

Ich war heute mal wieder die Karstadt-Stoffabteilung besuchen, wie ich schon ahnte, wurde ich natürlich fündig...Ein paar Sachen für noch mehr weihnachtliche Basteleien und ein wenig Tilda. Und die hatten so süße Patchwork-Stoffe, da musste was von mit...gut, dass ich heute doch nicht zum Stoffmarkt gefahren bin, das wäre mein Ruin gewesen.
So, mein Umzug geht grad in die heiße Phase, ich kann es kaum erwarten meine neue Nähecke einzurichten :) Um die Zeit bis dahin etwas zu überbrücken, habe ich gestern wieder meinen Berliner Nähhorizont etwas erweitert. Ich war mir Hüco-stoffe anschauen, davon hatte ich ja seit Jahren gelesen, aber bin bisher nie da gewesen. Nachdem man den Laden erstmal ausfindig gemacht hat, erwartet einen auf einer Etage eines Industriegebäudes eine Vielzahl von Regalreihen prall gefüllt mit Stoffballen <3 Mein Freund meinte, dass er mich da öfter zum Spielen abgeben wird ;) Die Auswahl ist echt klasse, Preise sind normal. Auf jeden Fall ist Hüco einen Besuch wert. Im unteren Stockwerk haben sie auch noch eine kleine Resteabteilung, wo man nach dem ein oder anderen Schnäppchen kramen kann.
Jetzt fehlen mir zu meinem Nähglück noch der Stoffmarkt und "Berlins Welt der Stoffe" an der Osloer Straße. Aber nicht mehr lange...

Hui, eigentlich wollte ich nur mal kurz die Stoffabteilung im Karstadt/Herrmanplatz begutachten...aber als ich die Tilda-ecke gesehen hab <3 Klasse, da werde ich wohl öfter mal hinmüssen ;) Naja, und eine kleine Ausbeute habe ich auch gemacht, die Nähbox hat mir schon immer so gut gefallen und endlich gibt es für meinen Glatzen-Engel eine Frisur :D Und das Stickgarn ist auch für ein Tilda-projekt *infiziert mit Tilda-sucht*
Immer wieder hatte ich davon gehört oder gelesen, heute war ich endlich mal dort: Der süßeste Nähladen der Welt "Frau Tulpe"! Heute hatte mich mein Weg vorranging wegen eines Onion-schnittes dorthin geführt, aber der Laden ist ja mal sowas von toll, da muss ich bald mal wieder hin. Einfach ein Traumlädchen für jeden der gerne Patchwork und Dekozeug näht und für alle die nichts gegen viel Buntes haben^^ Klasse!!
